BOYERTOWN, PA - Plastic bottle manufacturer, Drug Plastics, has expanded its presence in the plastic packaging business through the acquisition of Top-Seal Corporation, a former division of The Tech Group.
Top-Seal operates plants at its headquarters in Phoenix, AZ and Edinburgh, IN. The firm injection molds closures for a variety of industries and product groups. The acquisition was finalized on March 30, 2001. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Founded in 1963, Drug Plastics is a leading manufacturer of plastic bottles for the pharmaceutical, nutritional supplement, HBA, household chemical, food and novelty industries. DPG currently operates six factories, strategically located throughout the United States. The company was recently ranked 20th in the December 25, 2000 PLASTICS NEWS index of top bottle blow molders in North America.
The acquisition of Top-Seal will add injection molded closures to Drug Plastics' stable of product offerings, as well as two additional production facilities. President and CEO, Fred Biesecker, indicated that Top-Seal plans to add several sizes to existing product lines and to complete the development of new styles of closure designs, increasing the variety of cap options for all customers' particular applications. To support these moves, the factories in Arizona and Indiana will continue to operate in their current locations, and are likely see expansion plans conceptualized in preparation for anticipated additional demand.
